Windows Phone.
Windows Phone — a mobile operating system developed by Microsoft, released on October 11, 2010. On October 21, shipments of the first devices based on the new platform began. In Russia, phones with Windows Phone began selling on September 16, 2011, the first of them being the HTC 7 Mozart. On October 9, 2017, Microsoft CEO Joe Belfiore announced the end of creating new devices and updates for Windows 10 Mobile. In 2019, Microsoft officially stated that support for Windows 10 Mobile would end on December 10, 2019; owners of mobile devices running this system were advised to switch to devices with Android or iOS. There is also official information that the app store for Windows Phone 8.1 was closed after December 16 of the same year.
The operating system is the successor to Windows Mobile, although it is incompatible with it (this is generally true of all generations of Microsoft’s mobile operating system) with a completely new interface and — for the first time — integration of Microsoft services: the Xbox Live gaming service and the Zune media player. Unlike its predecessor, Windows Phone is more targeted at the consumer market than at the corporate sector.
The Windows 10 operating system for mobile devices was named “Windows 10 Mobile” instead of Windows Phone 10.
At present, phones with Windows Phone are no longer being produced.
