Filming on the Harry Potter series has begun — first image from the set
- HBO has begun production on the Harry Potter series in the UK, nearly 14 years after the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. This was reported by Warner Bros. Discovery.
- The series will comprise seven seasons — one for each book. According to Variety, filming on the first season will continue until spring 2026, after which production on the second will begin following a short break.
- The first season will premiere in 2027 on HBO and the HBO Max streaming service. This was officially announced by Warner Bros. Discovery.
- HBO also introduced the new cast members for the series. Rory Wilmot will play Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson will play Dudley Dursley, school Hogwarts matron Rolanda Hooch will be played by Louise Brealey (“Sherlock”), and wand shop owner Garrick Ollivander will be played by Anton Lesser (“Game of Thrones”).
- Francesca Gardiner (“Succession”) serves as the project’s head writer and executive producer. Mark Mylod is serving as both executive producer and director of several episodes.
