Haven’t set up a Christmas tree yet? It’s already in space!
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) gave Earthlings an amazing New Year’s gift — a picture of a huge space “Christmas tree”.
Object NGC 2264 is a massive cloud of gas and dust where new stars are currently being born. It is located in the Unicorn constellation, about 2,700 light‑years away from us. Inside it are beautiful glowing nebulae such as the “Cone” and the “Fox Fur”, illuminated by young stars. Now the main thing is that the Cat constellation doesn’t get too close to it 😁.
