Co‑founder of Ubisoft Claude Guimond died in France — the plane with the businessman crashed in the area of the city of Rennes. He was heading to the La Baule flying club meeting and was supposed to attend a gathering of flight enthusiasts this weekend.

The Cessna 421 aircraft, owned by 69‑year‑old Claude, was on a flight from Rennes. The flight instructor also died with Guimond. To deal with the aftermath of the crash, 29 units of special equipment were deployed.

Claude Guimond was one of five brothers who founded the company in 1986. He held the position of CEO of Guillemot Corporation and was a member of Ubisoft’s board of directors. Under his leadership, iconic franchises such as Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, Rayman and Prince of Persia were released.
