In Russia, the first Orthodox game promoting spiritual values will be developed
In Russia, development has begun on a new Orthodox computer game called “Ladder to Heaven”. The Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives allocated a grant of 19.99 million rubles for its creation.
The grant application states that this project aims to promote spiritual and moral values and to foster among young players a sense of unity, friendship, and responsibility for their country, and at its core lies the image of the Russian Orthodox Church as a life‑giving force that unites Russia and helps to do good.
The game's action takes place in the Vologda region, and its developer is an unknown company “Good Games”, founded in 2025. On its website, the company describes itself as a “startup studio”, whose main product is a single‑player point‑and‑click RPG game built on the Unity engine (presumably referring to this very “Ladder to Heaven”). According to the authors of “Ladder to Heaven”, its development will cost 29.76 million rubles in total. The closest global analogue and comparable project they cite is Disco Elysium — the best RPG of 2019 according to the Game Awards.
