In 2026, RAM may become 45% more expensive.

According to the Korean outlet Chosun Biz, by the end of next year DDR5 memory may increase in price by another 45% — in addition to the 123% rise that has already occurred this year. Insiders report that PC manufacturers are considering raising prices for premium models by up to 30% to offset rising component costs. And it's not only about desktop PCs but also laptops, as the shortage also affects specialized HBM memory for AI.

This will inevitably lead to higher end-product costs.

The previous hype wave about graphics cards led to less affluent segments of the population like me being happy with an integrated graphics card.
With all its charms such as lacking its own VRAM and using RAM as VRAM.
With the extreme case of processors like the Ryzen 5 5600G, which, if I'm not mistaken, is a CPU that was also forced to handle graphics. They say it's moderately terrible. It only heats up, damn it...

But the RAM...
Flirting with flash drives and SSD cards in the style of SpeedBoost/ReadyBoost in Win10 is unlikely to result in anything interesting (they would have already materialized – technology from about ten years ago, perhaps)...

I dare to suggest that the next step with RAM will be an attempt to move all RAM functionality somewhere into the processor cache.
I'm a bit of a hardware novice... The most suitable candidate for this is the L3 cache, right?
What's its maximum nowadays, 1 gigabyte on Milan‑X?
Well, probably, from my ignorant point of view, we just need to nudge extensive development in the right direction.

Are we ready for a server‑grade CPU with full RAM emulation in its own L3 cache (and water cooling) to be cheaper than a desktop CPU plus a RAM stick of comparable size and speed?
And two years later, Taiwan or something else will get screwed up – and personal computers will again take up the volume of a small cabinet.
Because we'll have to quickly learn to make makeshift CPUs using pre‑microprocessor‑level technologies or bundles of "microprocessors" that just a year ago were pointed at and, at best, called macroprocessors.
