The word "he*ny" comes from the Latin "hernia", which translates as "hernia". This diagnosis was often given to children from well-off families in Russia to avoid military service. At the end of the 19th century, every fifth conscript suffered from "he*ny".
If you look into it, there's nothing indecent about the word "*er". In the Church Slavonic alphabet, the letter "h" was called that. When they crossed out unnecessary parts of the text with a cross, it was called "po#erit'".
