The only currency that cannot be saved
We kill time without noticing that it is killing us.
Once, a man found a magical wallet.
Inside it there was always one gold coin.
As soon as he spent it, a new one appeared in its place.
Infinite wealth.
The man was delighted.
Now he didn't have to work!
He bought everything he wanted: houses, cars, yachts, jewelry.
He lived in the luxury others could only dream of.
Days turned into weeks.
Weeks into years.
He spent money without counting.
Why count it if there is an endless supply?
But one day, looking in the mirror, he noticed gray hair.
Then wrinkles.
Then weakness in his legs.
He realized: his life was coming to an end.
In desperation, he ran to the wise man:
— I have infinite gold! Buy me a little more life! I’ll give you everything!
The wise man sadly shook his head:
— Your gold is infinite, yes.
But your time is finite.
And the worst thing is: you spent it as easily as you spent your coins.
— You thought you had plenty of it.
But time, unlike gold, does not replenish itself.
It cannot be found in a wallet.
It cannot be earned again.
The man fell to his knees, clutching his magical wallet:
— But I was rich! I could buy anything!
— You could buy everything except one second, — replied the wise man.
And now you do not even have that left.
The wallet slipped from his trembling hands.
The gold coin clinked against the stone.
But the man no longer cared.
Because time was up.
WE OFTEN LIVE LIKE THIS
We often live as if we had eternity in reserve.
I’ll talk to the children later
Someday I’ll start writing a book
One day I’ll go to the place I dream about
I’ll call my parents tomorrow».
But “tomorrow” is not guaranteed to anyone.
The only time you truly have is now.
Don’t waste it on resentment, on empty arguments, on waiting for the “right moment.”
The moment has already come.
While you read these lines, it is slipping away.
And it will never return.
Time is the only currency whose exchange rate rises with every second.
Spend it wisely.
