In St. Petersburg, the largest robbery in the history of modern Russia took place: the head of a local bank and her manager carried out almost 9 thousand gold coins weighing a total of 160 kg from the vault.
According to the investigation, bank branch director Inna Andreeva and manager Irina Poryvaeva secretly entered the cash vault and removed coins from it. In total, the suspects took out 8 893 investment gold coins “Pobedonosets”.

Of the total stolen volume, 4 515 pieces had a nominal value of ₽50, 4 137 units – nominal ₽200, and the remaining 241 pieces – nominal ₽100. The market price of the stolen gold, recorded as of June 20, exceeds ₽2.22 billion.
The disappearance was discovered during a scheduled bank audit. From the cameras and internal accounting, the thieves were quickly identified, and now each faces up to 10 years of penal colony – the stolen coins have not yet been found.
