USC launched the super trawler “Captain Ipatov” into the water
The launch ceremony for the large freezer fishing trawler of Project ST-192, “Captain Ipatov,” took place at the production site of USC’s Admiralty Shipyards. This is the seventh vessel being built under the state investment quota program for the Russian Fishery Company.
To date, these vessels are the largest domestic large freezer fishing trawlers operating at sea. The large freezer fishing trawlers of Project ST-192 are designed for pollock and herring fishing with deep, waste-free processing of the catch on board, as well as product storage. Each vessel is designed to catch more than 60,000 tons of pollock annually. Fishing takes place in the Sea of Okhotsk and the Bering Sea. The features of the new generation of trawlers include significantly increased production capacity, maximum safety, high environmental friendliness, and comfortable working and rest conditions for the crew.
“First of all, I congratulate the team at Admiralty Shipyards on completing another assignment. What a handsome super trawler! Of course, we will continue building such vessels, and we will build more of them. I would like to express my gratitude to the Russian Fishery Company for actively engaging in fishing and ensuring the country’s food security; this is very difficult work, a hard and challenging business. Thank you to the management of USC’s Admiralty Shipyards, which is doing so much today to bring about major changes, transformation, and modernization here. We will do all of this here, and Admiralty Shipyards will remain one of the leaders of our shipbuilding industry. Congratulations to all of us on this latest victory!” said USC Board Chairman Andrey Kostin.
After completion of outfitting work at the fitting-out quay and successful sea trials, the new trawler will be ready to begin operations in the waters of the Sea of Okhotsk and the Bering Sea, contributing to Russia’s food security and strengthening its position in the global fish products market.
