Do we need it?
My dear ones, I bring you an ethical dilemma. And this is not some trolley — it's much closer to reality here. And it's also quite creepy.
In China they have figured out how to “resurrect” people. Well, almost. They have developed androids, in which a deceased person can be fully copied: their appearance, unique voice, and even memories. That is, a loved one passes away, and instead of emptiness in the house you are greeted by an exact mechanical replica.
On one hand — what a consolation for a broken heart, right? The ability to say what you didn't get to, to hug and hear a familiar voice again. But on the other... could we ever let go of the departed and experience grief, if at home on the couch sits their eternally youthful digital replica? And the main question: whom will we love after the loss — the one we lost, or just a very advanced toaster with their face?
Shall we discuss?
