"Very useful" information about coins
Today I was writing the financial literacy olympiad (an elective that I took five times during the whole school year) and to prepare, I read about many things, but remembered little. And now I will tell what I remembered, but it didn’t come in handy (no, I didn’t memorize it for nothing‽).
The obverse (eagle) of the coin is called the obverse. The reverse side of the coin (tails) is called the reverse. The side part‑rim.
Coins with denominations of 1,2,5 kopecks are made of steel and coated with copper. Rim‑smooth. On the obverse is depicted the coat of arms of the Republic of Belarus, the inscription "Belarus", the year of issue "2009". Also, besides regular coins there are commemorative coins. They are issued in honor of some event. They are more beautiful and refer to the event. They can be used as regular coins, but it is not profitable, because their real value often exceeds the nominal value.
There are also investment coins. They are most often made of gold. Such coins can be bought and sold. The buyer pays not only for the precious metal from which the coin is made, but also for the jewelry work. Therefore the coin will cost more than a gold bar of the same weight.
Coins remain payable if:
there are slight wear, scratches, minor darkening, spots, no shine.
There is a distortion of the original shape (the coin is slightly flattened), a minor distortion of the inscription or image.
There are manufacturing defects.
Coins with other damages are not accepted (through hole, split into two halves).
