[моё] Question for self-taught artists (and not only)

I’ve always been interested in how people teach themselves anything. It seems like the internet is full of video lessons and all that, but that’s also the problem: there’s just too much of it. Sometimes you don’t even know where to start.

I’ve always wanted to draw and I’m trying to do it, but how do you organize the process? Maybe someone can recommend where to begin, what aspects need to be taken into account, and what you should definitely pay attention to.

Clarification: I’m not aiming to make drawing my profession; I’d like to draw for myself and share my work, but with an understanding of the basics and further development of my skills.

I don’t know about others, but my mistake at the beginning was trying to grab everything, all at once and as fast as possible. Even though there’s a ton of information on the topic, sooner or later you’ll get around to all of it :>
And where to start is indeed a difficult question. Probably, first of all, develop your visual literacy. The more works by different artists you see, with different styles, themes, and so on, the easier it is to figure out what you personally like and what you want yourself. From there, you can keep moving forward (for example, you notice an unusual coloring feature in someone’s work, realize you want to do the same — then you go look for tutorials and theory on the topic)
And I’ll add a phrase that was once said to me: to learn how to draw, you need to draw. Consistency really does matter here. Though be careful with that, you can overdo it and burn out. After all, the main thing should be enjoyment of the process, and the skill will come with time

Well, if there is no desire to work with a person or in a team, it is very difficult to assess yourself.
You will keep bogging down in a trap of mistakes, ignoring your strengths.
Besides, not everyone who draws is an artist.
This is both a plus, as it frees you from criticism (the kind that unfolds around large-scale works in the world of ideas), and a burden of choice: what, why, to what end, and how.
Starting on your own can mean working with good books on anatomy and on constructing still lifes, landscapes, etc. It also involves practice in the form of sketches, studies, and copying.
Again, in the past, and less so now in the era of digitalization, there were artists who emerged from their own unique experience, but back then all processes were slower and there wasn’t such an avalanche of information. Such people, as a rule, were not taught by anyone, so as not to spoil them, but they could become trapped by a particular image.
Therefore, if you are at an age of self-awareness, you need to understand why, personally, you need to be able to draw.

well, I mean any kind of creative work right now

you do it -> fix the mistakes -> learn -> do it -> fix the mistakes -> do it -> do it -> learn -> fix the mistakes ... and so on

    the cycle applies to everything)

after 5 years you discover that you’re an artist)
