In Yakutia, a patient was brought back to life after five hours of clinical death
In Russia, a plot from “Futurama” repeated itself. A man from Yakutia got drunk while visiting and on his way home decided that it would be a good idea to sleep on a bench at -20°C. Of course, by dawn he turned into an icicle. Finding the frozen man, passersby called doctors. Arriving at the scene, the medics recorded clinical death from hypothermia: no heartbeat, blood pressure at zero, on the electrocardiogram — a flat line.
However, the doctors decided not to give up — they took the poor fellow to the hospital and began to slowly “thaw” him. After four hours the patient began to show slight signs of life, then the medics used a defibrillator, and the man's heart started beating again.
In the end the patient returned to life after 5 hours 34 minutes from the moment clinical death was recorded. All that remained was to wait how the body would react to such a prolonged clinical death. After a day of artificial coma the “resurrected” one regained consciousness — kidneys were functioning, vital functions were intact. He received necessary treatment in the hospital, and after five days he was discharged home.
