GOG.com introduced a subscription for air
Уууууух, JUST when I started to think that the video game industry couldn't possibly get any worse...
Check out the laugh:
Polish developers of the store, whose main feature was preserving and selling old games, are asking for a monthly subscription of 449 Russian rubles per month to fund preserving and selling old games.
Given that this is a wonderful excuse to mock the fans of Cyberpunk 2077, we'll laugh a bit later.
Let's analyze what riches they're promising us for such a huge amount of money (which we still can't donate because, you know, why):
- Your name in the list of donors on the pages of games restored thanks to this program (officially listed in the news and on the subscription landing page )
- A special badge on your GOG.com profile (there as well)
- The right to vote on what gets priority in the restoration queue (mentioned only on the landing page). The official wishlist, available to all players for free, and all its other modifications, apparently go to the trash
- Some exclusive videos “and other materials like Questions and Answers” covering the restoration process (on the landing page). Although usually the person interested either already knows enough, or has long been firmly listed on resources like old-games, which GOG... hehehe... is not a competitor to
- And the cherry on the cake – Membership on an EXCLUSIVE DiScOrD SeRvEr!!!!111111aaaaaa...!!!
And that's it.
Discounts on the projects backed by this fund?
It will cost you.
A forum section “members only” on GOG forums?
herp derp we forgot how to code our forum, go to Discord, we don't care that this scam doesn't get out of scandals.
At least, I don't know, a way to more systematically and directly choose which projects are worthy of spending time and money from this fund?
Hell no! If the public decides that GOG urgently needs to make and release a remake of the legendary blockbuster Genital Jousting (kids, don't Google) or some other sonic.exe, your money will go to the remake of Genital Jousting and sonic.exe!
Oh gods!.. where is the industry heading... this is no longer even the level of mobile grindfests, but some kind of oriflamme...
